Gretchen Lurie is Director of Enrollment Management at Chandler School in Pasadena, CA. An alumna of Colby College with graduate studies in educational administration at Fordham University, Gretchen began her career in private education at Miss Porter’s School in Farmington, CT. For more than 30 years, she has been involved in the life of independent schools as a teacher, dorm parent & boarding program coordinator, admissions and enrollment management associate and director as well as an active parent volunteer. In her role at Chandler, Gretchen is responsible for leading the strategic and operational components of enrollment management, including student recruitment, admissions and retention efforts, new enrollment and re-enrollment of returning students. She guides all admission processes and oversees this administration that requires sensitivity to economic, cultural and other issues present in the enrollment of a diverse student body. Gretchen is a recognized leader in her local admissions consortium. She served on AISAP's Board of Directors for six years and received her CAEP with AISAP in 2016. She is a 2007 graduate of The Crow’s Nest Institute, was a presenter at NAIS in 2010 and served as a member of CAIS accreditation teams in 2018 and 2020. Gretchen was a Balmer Scholar and received her certificate for Leadership in Enrollment Management from USC’s Rossier School of Education in May 2020. She enjoys hiking, cooking, reading, theatre, travel and spending time with her family.
